Baby signs

When I got pregnant, and even before that, I had some awareness about baby sign language. It is a relatively new fad to teach babies sign language. Babies can learn to sign to communicate long before they can talk. I bought a book, got a video and promptly never engaged in either. The truth is, my baby and I communicated just fine. Crying meant hungy or wet, most often hungry. Wet wasn't as big a deal. As he grew he made his wants and needs known in other ways.

Bobby is learning to talk and he can say a few words that actually sound like English and that I can understand as being communication. This morning he brought me the container for his favorite snack. I took it from him and he immediately hunched over and began to bounce up and down. Bouncing means excited or mad. Since he wasn't screaming I knew he was excited. As soon as I opened the container he reached in and grabbed what he wanted. It may not be American Sign Language, but its Bobby sign language and I've had 15 months to be come fluent.

Daycare woes

I love daycare. It has been a blessing. I can take Bobby first thing in the morning and I know that he is being watched and cared for and fed and changed while I am working away trying to make enough money to keep us going for another month. Its great. Whats not great is that Bobby has been in daycare for just under a month and he is now on his 2nd cold. How do they transfer germs so quickly and easily? Daycare, I love you but I'm wondering if this is a healthy relationship.
